The Apostle Paul said it this way: “We walk by faith, not by sight. ”2 Cor. 5:7"

I love the two contrasting encounters that Mark records just before Jesus enters the Holy City forthe last time, a week before his Crucifixion. First, in Mark 10, James and John (the mighty Sons of Thunder!) come to Jesus with an insistent request. Jesus asks, “What do you want me to do for you?” With their eyes on places of power and prestige, they answer, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.” Jesus teaches them (and us) that serving others is the greatest, first-place of honor that anyone could ever want—and the most Christ-like action one could ever take, by saying, “…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
(Mark 10:35-45)

In the next passage, Mark relates that as Jesus entered Jericho, he asked blind Bartimaeus the very same question: “What do you want me to do for you?” What an open-ended opportunity—Bartimaeus could have asked for ANYTHING! Mark hopes we will see that this true disciple has the better answer: “Rabbi, I want to see!” “Go,” Jesus said, “your faith has healed you.” (Mark 10:46-52)

This month we are going to follow Jesus as he begins walking toward Calvary, and all the while we’ll be persistently whispering, “Jesus, we want to see.” To see him more clearly, follow him more nearly, love him more dearly. Our theme for March is “The Last Week of Jesus.” Each Sunday this month, we'll follow Rabbi Jesus from his regal entrance into Jerusalem, his whitewater appearances in the Temple, overhearing his tough teachings, witnessing his sham trials, his torturous death and finally we’ll SEE his triumphant resurrection. I challenge each of you to courageously camp out with us in the gospel of Mark this season and meet the Master of the universe in a fresh way again—through his living Word.

Begin your study with us this month in the gospel of Mark and ask the Living Jesus to show you who he really is. Humbly ask him to see! And he will show you where his resurrected life can absolutely transform you from the inside out!
